2 Nephi 3:12

Joseph of Egypt prophesies of the coming forth of the Book of Mormon. The Bible and the Book of Mormon will “grow together” and confound false doctrines.

12 Wherefore, the fruit of thy loins shall write; and the fruit of the loins of Judah shall write; and that which shall be written by the fruit of thy loins, and also that which shall be written by the fruit of the loins of Judah, shall grow together, unto the confounding of false doctrines and laying down of contentions, and establishing peace among the fruit of thy loins, and bringing them to the knowledge of their fathers in the latter days, and also to the knowledge of my covenants, saith the Lord.

Elder Bruce R. McConkie wrote:

“The Book of Mormon will establish the truth and divinity of the Bible. ‘Wherefore, the fruit of thy loins [the Nephites] shall write; and the fruit of the loins of Judah [the prophets in ancient Israel] shall write; and that which shall be written by the fruit of thy loins [the Book of Mormon], and also that which shall be written by the fruit of the loins of Judah [the Bible], shall grow together unto the confounding of false doctrines and laying down of contentions, and establishing peace among the fruit of thy loins, and bringing them to the knowledge of their fathers in the latter days, and also to the knowledge of my covenants, saith the Lord.’ If ever there was a book of prophecy and revelation that needs divine interpretation, it is the Bible, as is shown by the mere existence of the numerous diverse doctrines and varied views espoused by the conflicting sects of Christendom. And that the Book of Mormon is and shall ever be the interpreter and expounder of the Bible, who can doubt?”
